Distress Inks and Block Smooshing Technique

Image
Hi there.  Hope everyone is having a good weekend.  It's my daughters 9th birthday during this weekend and I had a house full of giggling girls.  And, it was a sleepover party.  Lord help me! But, my daughter loved it and she had so much fun, so I guess that's all that counts. This week I'm using an ink smooshing technique with an acrylic block.  I seen this done so many times and it comes out so cool, thought I'd give it a try.  I used a 4.25x5" acrylic block to smoosh Distress Inks (Fired Brick, Scattered Straw, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserve), I added water on top of the ink until it beaded up and then turned it over onto distress watercolor paper.  I let it sit for about 10 mins before I took the block off.  Even though it wasn't dried, I used my heat tool to finish drying and set in the color.  I did this twice to get a deeper color. I didn't get the result with yellow or green that I wanted to, so I used  SSS Bright Yellow  for a card

Good afternoon. I hope you're having a great week so far. I received the new  Simon Says Stamp  April 2018 card kit Beautiful Day.  This kit is AH-maz-ing!!!  So much is packed into it.  The large 6x8 stamp set has such beautiful butterflies and hand lettering (you can find it here Beautiful Day Stamp Set ). And, the 6x6 stencil is just as perfect (find it here Simon Says Stamp Stencil Butterflies )! Also, who can resist 2 of the new full size Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks included with the kit. Unfortunately, the kit is sold out.  But you can purchase everything in the set separately if you wanted to pick and choose what you want.  The stamp set is on reserve until April 19th. I had so much fun making these two cards with the kit.  The Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow paper pad is so colorful and fun (find the paper pad here Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow ).  They really pop when added to any color card base. For the first card I used a white background rainbow paper.  I cut

Just Starting Out

Hi there and welcome to my blog. This is my very first post and I am super nervous. Just a little info about me.  I live in sunny South Florida.  I have an amazing husband and little girl who we both adore.  I love to craft and create.  We are all quite crafty in my family.  My daughter loves to spend time with me in my craft room.  She also loves to help my husband in his wood working shop. I have been crafting for several years.  I started out sewing, and moved into machine embroidery. Then I moved into paper crafting and card making.  My husband bought me my first Cricut machine and Cuttlebug and it took off from there.  Yeah, he's pretty awesome. I started this blog as an outlet for me to share my creativity and maybe inspire others while I'm at it. I believe in sharing kindness through crafts.  Cards and other handmade things always brighten people's day and I enjoy spreading that kindness.  I am on instagram as  Swift_Creations  so come find me and check out s
